Hello!

Welcome to Brown Bear Pediatrics, the only newborn/fourth-trimester-focused practice in the Annapolis area. Dr. Brownstein is a board-certified Pediatrician who has been practicing general Pediatrics for several years, while also raising a family of her own. She completed her medical training at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine, and then went on to complete her General Pediatrics residency at Prisma Health in Greenville, SC.

Through both personal and professional experiences, Dr. B has realized the significant gap in care during the "fourth trimester", or the first 12 weeks of a baby's life. Dr. B's goal is to fill this gap, providing compassionate, personalized, and evidence-based care during this pivotal time of your precious one's life, and in the comfort of your own home.

Dr. B brings not only her extensive medical training, but also her experiences as a mother of four. She is happy to be back in her native Maryland, and looks forward to meeting new families and their most precious little cubs!

What is Brown Bear Pediatrics?

Brown Bear Pediatrics is a concierge-style, cash-pay pediatric service with a special focus on newborns and the fourth trimester. We provide personalized, in-home and virtual support designed to guide families through the earliest and most important weeks of life with their new baby. Our approach is relationship-based, allowing for more time, attention, and accessibility than traditional models of care. We are meant to be supplemental to your primary pediatrician. We work alongside your pediatrician to enhance your child’s care, particularly during the newborn period, while your primary pediatrician continues to oversee routine health maintenance and long-term care.

How is this different from a traditional pediatrician?

Unlike a traditional pediatric practice, Brown Bear Pediatrics offers a more personalized, high-touch experience with direct access to your pediatrician.

This model allows for: Longer visits, home-based care and convenience, direct communication and guidance when you need it most, a deeper focus on parental support, education, and confidence-building

Rather than managing a high volume of patients, we intentionally keep our practice small to provide a more attentive and responsive experience.

Do you provide well-child checkups or vaccinations?

At this time, Brown Bear Pediatrics does not provide routine well-child visits or vaccinations.

We recommend maintaining care with your primary pediatrician for:

  • Well-child checkups

  • Vaccinations

  • Standard preventive care

Our role is to provide additional support, guidance, and access—especially during the early newborn stage.

Do you accept insurance?

No, Brown Bear Pediatrics is a self-pay practice and does not accept insurance.

This allows us to:

  • Spend more time with each family

  • Provide direct access without administrative barriers

  • Offer a more personalized and flexible care experience

Will there be discounts for families with multiple children?

Yes! We offer discounted rates for siblings and multiples, making it easier for families to receive care for more than one child.

Please reach out directly for specific pricing details tailored to your family’s needs.

What ages do you care for?

While our specialty and primary focus is on newborns and the fourth trimester, we also offer same-day virtual sick and urgent visits for children of all ages, as well as in-home ear piercing. See "services" for more details.
